Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of CAE/Analysis Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and analyzing detailed computational models of Fire/SCBA products. Analysis includes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FAE), Multibody Dynamics (MBD) and optimization. The candidate will also perform rigorous mechanical validations of computational models using data acquired from mechanical testing.
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Prepare detailed technical presentations for project engineering review
Participates in design reviews and ensures engineering and analysis tools are used where applicable
Develops, coaches, and mentors others in the engineering organization on analysis tools and methodologies
Recommend design direction and solution to technical problems directly to product development teams
Partners with development and delivery organizations to participate in consensus on new product development, productivity and product maintenance
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals utilizing a wide degree of creativity and latitude
Basic Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum five (5) years of FEA and/or CFD experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in analysis methods and simulation
Experience with ANSYS, Abaqus, MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, Ensight, CATIA, OpenFOAM, Minitab
Experience working in a geographically diverse development organization with multi-disciplinary teams
Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Manages multiple projects under time constraint
Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and engage with people quickly
Location: Monroe, NC
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
Relocation: Is authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
